New Autonomous Scrubber From Kärcher
Aurora, Colorado – Cleaning vast floor areas in logistics centers and industrial facilities demands significant time and resources. The new KIRA B 200 robotic scrubber from Kärcher offers a powerful solution, easing the strain on businesses grappling with skilled labor shortages and escalating costs.
The KIRA B 200 can operate completely autonomously thanks to the optional dedicated docking station, which handles all essential maintenance: charging, emptying, tank rinsing, and fresh water replenishment. The robot even verifies that it has sufficient battery power and fresh water before starting a scheduled route.
The KIRA B 200 is already an award winner, having recently won the prestigious Purus Innovation Award in the robotics/AI category at CMS, Europe’s largest cleaning show. Its intuitive operating concept allows users to effortlessly create new cleaning routes: the operator sits on the machine and drives the desired section. Existing routes can be run individually or combined into a comprehensive "routine." Utilizing a calendar function, cleaning jobs can be scheduled for KIRA B 200 to complete entirely on its own.
Equipped with large 52-gallon fresh and dirty water tanks and a cleaning width of up to 35 inches, the KIRA B 200 delivers enhanced productivity. An intelligent, speed-dependent detergent dosing unit and durable lithium-ion batteries - providing a four-hour run time - ensure sustainable operation. In clear, open areas, such as a logistics hall at night, the KIRA B 200 can achieve a theoretical area performance of up to 52,313 square feet per hour.
Safe, certified navigation is paramount, especially when the robot operates alongside automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and human employees. The new robotic scrubber uses a robust combination of LiDAR sensors and five cameras. Importantly, camera images are processed in real-time and not stored, ensuring data privacy and security. The system concept also includes built-in protection against cyber threats, adhering to data protection standards.
As facilities become increasingly automated, the KIRA B 200 is designed for critical building infrastructure connectivity. For less automated environments, the new robot scrubber offers the optional IO Box digital interface, whereby the robot can open and close roller doors. In fully autonomous environments it can be connected to the infrastructure via the VDA 5050 communication standard. Rights of way, for example, can be defined for automated guided vehicle systems and KIRA B 200 in order to enable seamless workflows.
Two different brush heads are available for the robot scrubber and are suitable for the respective floor covering and cleaning concept: the KIRA BR 200 model with roller brushes and side brush achieves very good results on rough surfaces and can also remove coarse dirt such as wood shavings or paper shreds. The KIRA BD 200 model is equipped with a disc brush head and is suitable for smooth surfaces such as linoleum or PVC.
